A Little Dirt Never Hurt
Dear Lovely,
I distinctly remember the first time I ever ate a Dirt Cup and thinking it was one of the best tasting desserts I had ever tried. I mean, I was 12 years old, so the palette we’re discussing wasn’t exactly discerning; but even now, how can you get much better than chocolate pudding, Oreos, and gummy worms?
The kicker to this recipe is that I found THESE glasses at Anthropologie covered in little gummy worms, so now this can be a fun tradition—yes for my teenage boys!!—each year when I pull down the gummy worm glasses. And honestly, you don’t have to save these for Halloween time. Make a Dirt Cup any time of year and enjoy getting a little dirty. Don’t forget to read about my collection of these juice glasses and why I love them so much: A Case for Charming Drinkware.
*This recipe makes 4 good sized Dirt Cups.
Ingredients:
1 package gummy worms
(2) 5 oz packages Jello chocolate pudding, family size
10 Oreo cookies
*marshmallows, optional—I use these as little “rocks” in the dirt
*whipped cream, optional—because why not if you already have it?
Directions:
Make both boxes of the chocolate pudding according to package directions. Let cool and spoon into preferred glasses. I love THESE from Anthropologie.
Place Oreo cookies in a Ziplock bag and crush until crumbled.
Top pudding cups with crushed Oreos, a sprinkle of *marshmellows, *whipped cream, and gummy worms.
Serve chilled. Pudding can be made ahead of time and cups assembled quickly before serving.
Enjoy!
