Blackberry Rosemary Sparkler

Dear Lovely,

This recipe comes to The Art of Living Beautifully complements of Lorie Fangio, and was originally published in September 2019 issue of The Art of Living Beautifully Magazine. I love the beautiful color and fresh sprigs of rosemary. This cocktail calls for homemade blackberry syrup (recipe also below) that can be used to make Blackberry S’mores, which just so happens to be the perfect fall dessert.

Ingredients for Cocktail:

  • 2 oz lemon vodka

  • 2-3 oz Prosecco

  • 2 TBS Blackberry Syrup*

  • ice

  • Rosemary and blackberry for garnish

Directions for Cocktail:

  1. Combine vodka, rosemary sprig, syrup, and ice in a shaker.

  2. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

  3. Strain into a chilled martini glass and float with prosecco.

  4. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a blackberry.

Ingredients for Blackberry Syrup:

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries

  • ¼ cup water

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • 1 TBS fresh lemon juice

  • pinch salt

Directions for Blackberry Syrup:

  1. Place berries nd water ina food processor and process until all the berries are puréed, about 1 minute.

  2. Pour berry mixture and remaining ingredients into a saucepan set over medium high heat, and cook stirring often until the mixture comes to a full boil.

  3. Cook at a rolling boil for 4-5 minutes while continueing to stir.

  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove all the seeds from the syrup.

Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Makes 1 ¼ cups syrup.
