Paris Brocante Styled

Dear Lovely,

Last week I shared with you all the fun treasures I found at the brocantes in Paris when I traveled there last month. You can re-read that blog post HERE.

Today I want to share with you how I used/styled these items in my home. This is one of my favorite parts of seeing how people shop, and that is seeing how they use the item. I hope this post provides you a little creative inspiration in your own homes and wardrobes.

Vintage Hermès scarf from le grenier d’amatxi

  • I chose this scarf particular scarf for 2 reasons.

    • Aqua blue is my favorite color and

    • My friend Lorie has the exact same scarf but in a different colorway, and I happened to be with her when I found this scarf. I thought it was a neat coincidence.

I wasted no time in wearing my scarf in Paris, but have worn it many times since I’ve been home.

  • You can see in tied it around my favorite black dress in Paris. Using a scarf to break up a solid color or add some shape to an outfit is always a win for me.

  • I tied it around a pair of wheat-colored jeans

  • I draped it around my neck with a black blazer and simple white t-shirt

  • I used it as a belt with a thrifted denim jumpsuit

1950s French pen nib and ink bottle with a bisque porcelain figure cork from ils antiques

Soooo….I’m not able to show you what I’m doing with this just yet because I’m waiting on a piece of furniture to arrive. I will update this post as soon as it does and reshare it with you. In the interim, you can see where it’s currently sitting on my desk.

4 vintage salad plates from ils antiques

I think I mentioned initially I was planning on hanging these plates on either side of my pantry doors, but currently, they are happily sitting in a little stack on the counter in the pantry instead. Every single morning when I get up and make my matcha, I make a piece of sourdough toast. My toppings include avocado, salmon, or butter (sometimes all 3) and I’ve loved using these little plates to serve my breakfast on. It’s kind of like my juice glass collection; just using them brings a little whimsy into my world and makes me happy. I also used one as a candle saucer which was cute. (P.S. THIS is my new favorite candle.)

Palmer & Co Champagne Bath from taraj antiques-designs

Because we haven’t had an official party since I returned home from France, the new Champagne bath hasn’t been officially used, but here are a few photos of it in our home. And yes, I absolutely love it as a planter for a beautiful fall moment.

Linen Panel from reflets d’artgen

  • Pretty quickly after I returned from France, I knew I wanted to use the beautiful linen panel as topper on our bed. It certainly isn’t used for function, but for beauty, and I love how it looks at the foot of our bed.

Oyster Platter

My lunch in the garden with Laurence (be sure to read Art in the Garden if you haven’t,) inspired me to use this oyster platter to hold a bright and colorful salad. Salads don’t have to be served in a bowls. Who cares if my tray has cells for oysters, just enjoy using your beautiful vintage platter.

Terra cotta brooches from the 1950s

I love these little brooches so much and have worn the heck out of them! I gave one to my neighbor and she sent me a picture of her wearing hers as a necklace. So of course, I had to copy. I’ve also pinned it onto various jackets, tops, and lapels.

Treasure shopping at the brocante flea markets was such a fun experience, one that I will happily repeat next time I’m in Paris. Have you ever shopped at the brocantes in Paris? If so, what did you find?
